There’s a that has been in a slew of ads about its price. This, naturally, has made it very popular recently. However, before you all rush out to get one, I just want to make a couple of points. • Firstly, it’s [HP Photosmart C4780] cheap for a reason – the build quality is cheap flexi-plastic. This thing is the epitome of disposable tech. I personally find this very wrong, especially since we are all making a big hooha about ‘being green’ and reducing / recycling. Unfortunately, most gadgets nowadays seem to have a lifespan of about 3 years.

I’d give this printer 12 months. • Second, it’s quite noisy – for some reason, even in stand-by, it emits a high pitched whine. Possibly I’ve encountered a dodgy power supply but it’s not helping my first impressions. Printing is even nosier – expect lots of “activity” before anything comes out. Subsequent prints fair a lot better. • 2 inks – one tri-colour and one black.
These buggers are tiny. Expect to pay about £18 for a standard and £30 for ‘high-capacity’ (for the tri-colour). • The screen is tiny and the touch aspect is a gimmick. What possible benefit does adding touch add to a printer?
It’s crap (but forgivable if the rest was any good – but it ain’t). • And lastly but most importantly, the network drivers for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard are no good. Printing over USB using either HP provided or inclusive driver works well. The response is near instant. Printing over a wireless network, even just a test page, takes about 5-10 minutes (no joke!) to connect and spool to. Only then, the printer would spit out perhaps only half the page. Clearly, this is unacceptable and seemingly no amount of drivers procured from the Internet seems to resolve this.
This is not a network issue as some might think as scanning works a treat and the printing is instant if you change the driver to ‘Generic’. Granted the output is black and white only, but at least it prints.
Which is the reason to get a printer in the first place right? Anyway, just thought I’d get this out on the Internet – I don’t have a bone to pick regarding HP; their other printers are great. But I’d recommend getting a different printer or holding out for newer drivers before getting this. Bottom line: It’s cheap to buy, but you’re gonna pay for it in other ways.

When i switch on my HBH DS200 do i have to do anything else to turn it's bluetooth. Because my laptop's bluetooth is not able find DS200 when i do a search on devices nearby? After knowing that some A2DP drivers need to be installed i uninstalled previous bluetooth drivers and installed some A2DP drivers.End result being i messed up eveything.my laptop bluetooth stopped working.
